Position Overview
This is a part-time project-based role initially — with a strong possibility of becoming a regular part-time role over time — reporting to the Principal. For this role, you will have the flexibility to work from home. Typical hours for this role are flexible to your needs, with some availability to collaborate between 8am-5pm, Monday-Thursday. Ideally, you’ll live in the Minneapolis-St. Paul, Minnesota metro area as occasionally, there will be a need to collaborate for in-person meetings in Minneapolis. Typical hours per project expected to be in the range of 40-60 hours for an average project over 3-4 weeks. Pay will be in the range of $40-50 per hour, commensurate with experience. For initial contract, a willingness to work as a 1099 employee and bill under your own LLC is required. Must have reliable computer system, high-speed Internet access, and be willing to add MS Office Suite software on your computer.

In order to free up the Principal and Owner to focus on her own unique abilities of conducting interviews, facilitating workshops, and leading the business, Jonquil Ridge is creating the new role of Report Writer. The mission of the Report Writer is to partner with the Principal – who is currently serving as Lead Interviewer on all projects – to lead content development for final client deliverables for qualitative market research projects. The Report Writer will be a key asset to the Principal by becoming the expert on the nuances of findings for any particular project and bringing those stories to life. The most important responsibility of the Report Writer is to ensure that world-class client deliverables with clear strategic findings and supporting details are completed on time and on budget with a high level of efficiency, confidentiality, accuracy, flexibility, and positivity in order to support Jonquil Ridge clients.
Responsibilities
Strategic Storyteller
- Work collaboratively with Lead Interviewer to develop the storyline of the findings from a qualitative market research study.
- Understand both the high-level key takeaways from the project as well as the appropriate level of detail for multiple audience learning styles in order to find the right balance for final deliverables
Painter
- Own all content (words, charts, graphs) for Powerpoint reports that teach clients about findings and key actionable insights for market research projects.
- Dive deeply into interview transcripts (sometimes up to 300-400+ single-spaced Word file pages per project) to identify strong verbatim quotes to bring the key themes to life.
- Highlight critical nuances shared by interviewees, making them vivid and actionable for client teams.
- Think creatively to utilize unique and impactful charts or other graphics to best teach the findings.
Report Executor
- Work collaboratively with Project Coordinator whose role it is to format and design the Powerpoint files to create professional, high quality final deliverables

- Thrive on constant learning of clinical and technical content.
- Come into every project with an open mind on what the findings may be.
- Commit to telling the story in an unbiased way to best represent the viewpoint of the interviewees as opposed to what the client wants to hear.
Proficiencies
- Business Knowledge: The Report Writer will have a high attention to detail and accuracy, using their existing experience dealing with complex business information, their experience supporting professional services, marketing or writing projects, and their ground level understanding of business/marketing terminology to provide informed content support.
- Quality Communication: The Report Writer must be an excellent communicator, in both written and oral form. This includes proficiency in spelling, grammar, and punctuation. This also includes being able to take a large amount of information and summarize it quickly both in writing and orally on a regular basis. You must also be able to track communication (and be very responsive) across multiple channels without losing any details. Those channels could include in-person meetings, virtual video calls, text messages and/or emails.
- Project Management: Ability to manage own project portfolio to contribute to several projects at the same time and to complete high quality work under tight deadlines.
- Team Player: In addition to working directly with the Principal/Lead Interviewer, the Report Writer will also work with other members of the Jonquil Ridge Team extended team. They’ll need to be able to collaborate and communicate well with these team members, maintaining a can-do spirit and not complaining, making excuses, or gossiping.
- Affinity for Technology: Technologically savvy Windows user and not intimidated by learning new technology. Proficiency in the following tech platforms is ideal: Microsoft Office Suite, Zoom.
Requirements:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent deep experience required.
- Experience: 3-5 years in market research, journalism, marketing/communications or professional services.
